There is no greater freedom, than that of becoming educated.  I come from a family of over-achievers.  I have a Bachelors in Computer Science, and a Masters in Business Administration.  My wife made the dean’s list several times in undergrad, recently graduated Law School and is studying for the bar exam. My oldest sibling has a Masters and is a University Professor along with her husband.  My next oldest sibling has a Masters in Business working in healthcare administration, and she is married to a Medical Doctor.  My next oldest sibling has her Ph.D., has attained tenure at a California State University, and now does administration work.  My father is a EE and is a retired CEO.  My mother is a retired nurse.  My neice is startng grad school, and my nephew is set to graduate from college this year.

I was walking the dogs with my father over Christmas break, and we happened to get talking about my newborns college education.  It dawned on me that there is nothing more liberating than the gift of knowledge.  My family members and I aren’t rich, but we’re not poor either.  We live comfortably, but we also work hard.  And if worse comes to worse, we all have the knowledge obtained through education, to be resourceful enough to find a way to make a living and a comfortable one at that.  If you are an educated person, you know what I am talking about.  When you become educated, you have been set free by knowing you can achieve whatever you set your mind to.  I’m not saying that uneducated people can’t succeed, but by being educated you really increase your chances.  If I died tomorrow, the one thing I would want for my children, is for them to be educated.  Because no matter how hard life gets, and education will provide the means necessary to trudge through it and come out the other end successfully and comfortably.
